Addressing the health workforce challenges: key themes from an international perspective |

Abstract:Shortage of appropriate human resources for health (HRH) and unbalanced geographic distribution are among the main reasons that health services cannot reach poor people in low income countries. This paper reviews some recent HRH movements in the international policy agenda. It then explores some of the key challenges for strengthening HRH and provides some examples of what can be done when there is a will to address health workforce challenges. |
